HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

Faith Academy, 4th

WACO — The Lady Flames added to their storied running history, taking fourth in the Class 2A state meet Oct. 22 propelled by Christian Lykken’s fifth-place finish in 13 minutes, 43.9 seconds, which set a new school record.

She and Sierra Brinkley (10th in 14:08.1) were named to the all-state team.

RESULTS: 5, Christina Lykken, 13.43.9; 10, Sierra Brinkley, 14:08.1; 43, Peace Preston, 15:56; 50, Stephanie Scoggin, 16:34; 52, Beth Ann Berkman, 16:37.4; 53, Paloma Ortiz, 16:38; 56, Ariel Blaylock, 17:11.

SAY WHAT? “We scored fewer points than last year with a completely new team, a more competitive race, and the windy conditions. For the first time in school history, we have two all-state cross country runners in the same year,” coach Steve McCannon said.
