Marble Falls track star Madison Cuplin commits to Texas Tech

Marble Falls track star Madison Cuplin commits to Texas Tech

She’s choosing Tech, we can tell. Marble Falls track and field standout Madison Cuplin is taking her record-breaking performances to the collegiate level, committing to compete at Texas Tech University.

Cuplin set school records in four events during the 2026 season, running the 100 meters in 11.81 seconds and the 200 in 23.84 seconds. She also recorded a 20-foot, 11-inch long jump and a 43-foot, 1-inch triple jump. She capped the season by winning the Class 4A state championship in the triple jump with a mark of 40 feet, 5.75 inches.

For Cuplin, choosing Texas Tech came down to finding a program where she felt valued beyond her performance on the track.

“I was trying to look for some place that would make me feel like a person instead of just someone on the roster, and it gave me that feel,” she told DailyTrib.

Her path to a collegiate commitment was shaped by the challenges she faced early in high school. Cuplin said a difficult freshman season taught her the importance of commitment and consistency and pushed her to work harder.

“My freshman year was really hard for me, and I didn’t make it where I wanted to after that,” she said. “It drove me to work harder.”

That approach paid off during her record-setting senior season, when she prioritized consistency in her training, nutrition, and sleep to push her to the next level.

“My goal was consistency because I had huge marks and then I’d drop back down to lower marks,” Cuplin said. “This year, the way I went about it, I stayed consistent.”

As she prepares for the next level, Cuplin is looking forward to competing against stronger competition. She said she has spent much of her high school career competing against herself, but college will give her new athletes to chase and new goals to pursue.

She credits her parents as her biggest supporters.

“They’ve always been right behind me with everything,” Cuplin said.
