Highland Lakes Track Club takes first step to nationals
MARBLE FALLS — The Highland Lakes Track Club has its first hurdle June 25 in returning to the U.S. National Meet.
The club will compete in the Region 12 Association Meet beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Round Rock McNeil High School, 5720 McNeil Road in Round Rock.
Brock Foster of Burnet is the reigning long-jump national champion and finished third in the 100 meters at nationals last summer. However, he will compete in the young boys (13-14 years old) division for the first time.
“He’s in good shape,” McCannon said. “It’s a move up. He’s locked in.”
Kristen Pitts of Lakeway will run in the 1,500 meters.
“Kristen Pitts has a good chance,” McCannon said.
