Walmart announced it is creating a special hour of shopping for patrons 60 years and older starting March 24. The retail stores will designate 6-7 a.m. every Tuesday through April 28 for these customers. Staff photo by Jennifer Fierro
Walmart is the latest store to set aside shopping hours specifically for older patrons due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The retailer announced it will designate 6-7 a.m. each Tuesday from March 24 through April 28 for customers ages 60 years and older.
“We know our older customers could be more vulnerable to the coronavirus and to better support them, Walmart is offering special shopping hours,” the company wrote in a statement on its website.
Pharmacies and vision centers also will be open during the 6-7 a.m. timeframe.
The Marble Falls Walmart, 2700 U.S. 281 south, announced over the past weekend that it was changing its hours to 6 a.m.-11 p.m. beginning March 15.
The corporate office also announced stores will have purchase limits on certain products, including paper products, milk, eggs, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, water, diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food.

The latest you have on times for 82 year olds or over 60 is over with April 28th, this is May 25th, is their any special time we can come, is it still 6 a.m. ’cause if it is we’ll be there.

Thank you Wal mart n all stores that are helping out the elderly with special times for them. Its so much easier to go to the store and not be so crowded. God bless you for thinking of our health and well being.
What about Woodforest banking hours?
Thank you Walmart. I am 79 years old but I can’t drive in the dark. I live by myself and do want to be independent. I spent $147 @ my local Walmart on the 25th when I got my SS CK. I was very pleased. I got almost everything on my list except a loaf of bread. I don’t think 1 hour from 6 to 7 will work for me. It’s too dangerous in the parking lots at these times.
That’s nice but it takes me longer then an hour to do my shopping most of the time , thank you for taking us in account. Be safe
What about those people with a compromised immune system? Do we matter? Are we included in the hour? I hope so. Thank you.

I am 68 y.o. and live more than an hour from Walmart. How am I supposed to get there from 6 to 7 am 2 days a week? To me this isn’t even a serious attempt to help us seniors. I guess we scratch you off our list of places to shop. Too bad, we could buy everything in 1 store.

We all have to make uncomfortable adjustments in these difficult times. Coffee tastes great at 4:30am! Stay calm and carry on.

So very TRUTH seems as ungracious response…I am 64 years old 100% disabled veteran and have difficulty walking the entire length and dept of the store to get milk and eggs at very back of store(normal grocery store layout???), butit seemes to me a riit may ensue… There may be 4 of the electric shopping carts at each Walmart and you ad 80 older folks tryining to fight over the charmin and disposable bladder products from everyone laughing at the old fogeys fighting in the dark parking lot for the one “Golden Hour” of old folks shopping…This may be more entertaining than re-runs of “The 3 Stooges” or perhaps the poor old demise of Wiley E. Coyote at the hands of “The Roadrunner”. Really all being said, I believe perhaps a little better planning might go into choosing that one magical hour of shopping being before sun up…I have hair follicles that refuse to get up and go look to purchase a bottle of hand sanitizer that early….
Just look at it this way, that large of a group of elevated risk older folks screaming through wallyworld…parked waiting for the next available elecric cart to become available, Sam Walton if he were alive would atleast be selling car to car coffee to make sure no one was falling asleep at K.O. WALLYWORLD, THEN HE WOULD KNOW HOW TO RENT THE PORTABLE OUT HOUSES…AhhhAmerican enterprise…
Really folks, gives us 90 minutes and the free coffee at 9:30 AM….?
Considering the high nunbers of retirees in this area, one would think you could serve more customers by being open at least 2 hours for us. As stated above, many of us have physical limitations and it’s hard to navigate the store in one hour’s time. One day a week for one hour? You can do better than that.
Obviously whomever made these hours doesnt understand the elderly. 1 hour is not enough time for us. Remember, many of us are infirm. Longer & later please
Yes much too. Early. R u. Crazy ?? People. Are very slow. & cant. Rush in the morning. Also. It’s still DARK. AT THAT HOUR. AND CANT. DRIVE. IN THE DARK !!!! Change. it to ANOTHER REASONABLE. TOIME. !!!!

One of the problems is hard to find items ie. toilet paper are being used for marketing by businesses. For example: free roll of toilet paper with an oil change!
