Young Burnet team’s late turnover ends comeback against Lampasas
BURNET — Both teams traded blow for blow during a hard-fought contest.
In the end, Lampasas High School triumphed as Burnet sputtered.
During the first district game of the season, Lampasas beat the Bulldogs 37-29.

“They (Lampasas) played mostly seniors out there,” Burnet coach Doyle Walker said. “We had several sophomores. It makes a big difference. We have to go through some growing pains.”
Burnet scored on their first possession.
Quarterback Weston Cozby faked left and passed right to wide receiver Blaine Posey to complete a 15-yard touchdown. Kicker Austin Huff booted the point-after touchdown.
Halfback Zach Maldonado helped set up the score with a 22-yard run on a backfield reverse.
