Driver killed in Burnet County crash on FM 2342

One person was killed in a single-vehicle collision on the night of Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Burnet County.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson, troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash at approximately 10:42 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1200 block of FM 2342 in Burnet County, near Kingsland. 

On the scene, a preliminary investigation determined that a Tesla Model S drove off the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, who was unnamed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police scanner recordings, multiple fire rescue agencies also responded to a “collision that turned into a vehicle fire,” at the exact time and location of the single-vehicle crash.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
