The city of Bertram has postponed its Bulk Trash Day by one week, now to be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at the Bertram Sewer Plant located at 2110 W. Texas 29. A second drop-off day will be held from 9 a.m.-noon that Sunday, if necessary.
City staff will be calling residents throughout the day on Friday, May 1, to alert them of the date change.
The debris-ditching event, giving residents an opportunity to junk piled up bulk tree limbs, scrap metals, lumber, and tires, was originally scheduled for May 2-3, but was pushed back due to severe weather conditions affecting the area throughout the week.
Those interested in discarding their bulk waste must visit the city’s utility clerk and fill out a free permit application ahead of time. A utility bill indicating garbage service is required, and only residential customers within city limits are allowed to participate.
Some basic guidelines of the event are as follows:
- Maximum load of 5 cubic yards
- Limbs must be bundled no more than 4 feet long
- Separate metals, scrap lumber, limbs, and brush
- No hazardous materials, including fluorescent bulbs, chemicals, oil, filters, refrigerant, fiberglass, electronics, rock, or dirt
- Car or pick-up tires, removed from rims, are accepted at a $4 charge per tire
- There is a one-trip maximum per utility account, per vehicle
For more information, view the bulk trash flyer found on the city of Bertram’s website here. Note that times and dates do not reflect the event’s delay.
