Steve Hale is leaving his position as Burnet Consolidated Independent School District director of athletics and school safety at the end of June 2025. He started the job in March 2024.

BCISD confirmed Hale’s resignation with DailyTrib.com on Thursday, May 5. A report from Burnet sports blog Green Blood Sports said Hale announced his resignation Monday morning and that he was taking a coaching job at Trinity Christian Academy in Willow Park, Texas.

“God has opened up a door for me to coach at a private school that is near my family,” reads a quote from Hale in the Green Blood Sports report. “I will finish my contract and be here through the end of June.”

Hale replaced longtime BCISD Athletic Director Kurt Jones last year. He was selected from a pool of over 50 applicants and has over 31 years of education experience.

No announcement had been made regarding a replacement for Hale as of Thursday.
