Two Marble Falls students were among 25 recipients of Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s 2025 scholarship awards, which totaled $100,000 across PEC’s service area. The scholarships, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000, were presented at a May 2 reception in Kyle.

Among the honorees were Marble Falls High School senior Henry Vanicek and Marble Falls homeschool student Weiss Stanley. Each got $4,000 scholarships.

Other area recipients were Tanner Gibbons of Blanco High School ($3,000), Katelyn Anne Martin of Arrowroot Christian Academy in Lampasas ($3,000), and Joshua Burgos Rivera of Liberty High School ($5,000).

Scholarship winners were selected from nearly 500 applicants representing 23 school districts and about 34 high schools within PEC’s service territory.

“We are delighted to support these students in their educational journeys,” said Mikayla Herron, PEC community outreach specialist, in a media release. “The competition was steep, and we were thrilled to receive so much interest.”

Scholarship funds may be used for tuition at any accredited college, university, or trade/technical school. Since launching the program in 1999, PEC has awarded $1.6 million in scholarships to nearly 900 students. Learn more at mypec.com/scholarships.
