Free hygiene product closet open to those in need

A once-per-month hygiene closet is opening in Marble Falls, offering free self-care and cleaning products to those in need.

The Burnet County Community Resource Center, 1016 Broadway in Marble Falls, will host the first hygiene closet on Tuesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to noon. Closets will continue at the same time on the second Tuesday of each month through Oct. 14.

“Our vision is to see everyone end their day without worries for tomorrow,” said Dawn Capra, director of Community Impact for Community Resource Centers of Texas Inc., in a Tuesday media release announcing the closet. “If supplying necessities lifts a burden, then tomorrow may seem brighter.”

The hygiene closet is sponsored by Superior HealthPlan, a Texas healthcare provider.

“This collaboration with Superior HealthPlan aligns perfectly with our mission,” said CRC Executive Director Lucy Murphy. “We’re excited to be the local host of this hygiene closet.”

Hygiene products include cleaning supplies like laundry detergent and bleach as well as personal care items such as toothpaste and shampoo.

The Burnet County CRC is a hub for services catering to Highland Lakes residents in need, including help with housing, food, employment, transportation, and other basic essentials. The CRC also has sites in Kingsland and Johnson City.
