EMS fish fry March 5 at Blue Bonnet Cafe

Blue Bonnet Cafe has been hosting the biannual Marble Falls Area EMS fish fry fundraiser since 1989. The next one is March 5. File photo

Marble Falls Area EMS hosts a fish fry fundraiser from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Blue Bonnet Cafe, 211 U.S. 281.

Plates of fried catfish and all the fixings are $15 each. You can dine in or place a takeout order by calling 830-693-2344. Tickets may be purchased in advance online.

The EMS hosts two fish frys a year, one in the late winter and the other in the early fall. Proceeds are a major funding source for the Marble Falls agency, which has a coverage area with more than 45,000 residents and answers over 5,000 service calls a year.

KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune host Ben Shields will broadcast live from Blue Bonnet Cafe from 4-6 p.m.

Marble Falls Area EMS has been holding the fish frys for over 36 years, and it is customary for officials from across Burnet County to volunteer during the event, doling out dishes to hungry patrons. The fundraiser was started in 1989 by Blue Bonnet Cafe owner John Kemper, who was well-known for his contributions to the Marble Falls community. He died in 2020.
