A Dia de los Muertos display will be included in Main Street Treat Fest on Saturday, Oct. 31, as part of the Marble Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Hispanic Business Alliance contribution to Halloween festivities.

Main Street Treat Fest takes place 4-7 p.m. on Saturday on Main Street in downtown Marble Falls. The Dia de los Muertos display will be just one of many booths at the festival which will serve as a trick-or-treating hub for Highland Lakes locals.

The display, an authentic “Day of the Dead” ofrenda, will serve as a special place to honor loved ones who have passed. The Hispanic Business Alliance is inviting anyone interested to help assemble the ofrenda or contribute to the project on Friday, Oct. 30. Contact information@marblefalls.org to volunteer.

An ofrenda is a traditional altar that is assembled and built as part of the Dia de los Muertos holiday tradition, which usually includes keepsakes, photographs, flowers, and gifts to honor deceased loved ones. The holiday is common throughout Mexico and much of Latin America  and is celebrated Nov. 1-2.
