Following a successful opening weekend, “The Marvelous Wonderettes” continues its harmonious run at the Hill Country Community Theatre through Feb. 18. Performances of this off-Broadway musical are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays at the nonprofit theater, 4003 FM 2147 West in Cottonwood Shores.
Directed by Heidi Melton, “The Marvelous Wonderettes” transports audiences to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, where they meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy — four girls with dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. In Act II, the girls reunite at their 10-year reunion, showcasing the highs and lows of the past decade and their enduring bond.
Played by the talented cast of Heidi Eubanks as Suzy, Christine Ashbaugh as Missy, Ava Siera as Cindy Lou, and Christy Brown as Betty Jean, these characters come to life on stage with infectious energy and charisma.
“We’re overwhelmed by the amazing response from our audience during opening weekend,” said Melton in a media release about the play. “Their enthusiasm and support truly fuel our passion for bringing this delightful musical to life.”
Featuring over 30 classic 1950s and ’60s hits, including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” and “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “The Marvelous Wonderettes” is a musical trip down memory lane.
Tickets for “The Marvelous Wonderettes” are $27 for adults and $17 for youths plus fees. You can purchase them online or by calling the theater box office at 830-798-8944. The show is part of the HCCT’s Season 38.
