TTU program offers cultural classes to 50-and-over learners

Curious about candle-making or charcuterie? Got an interest in gothic architecture or Yemen? Or, maybe you want to shine a light on the April 2024 eclipse. Inquiring minds over 50 can find out more when the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute introduces its fall 2023 class lineup.
The kickoff event takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at Hidden Falls Bistro and Bar, 220 Meadowlakes Drive in Meadowlakes. RSVP by Sept. 8 to OLLI coordinator Sarah Ramos at sarah.ramos@ttu.edu.
The courses in the fall catalog cover health, travel, the arts, history, and hobbies.
OLLI was founded in 2002 as Texas Tech Lifelong Learning. It offers enjoyable yet stimulating non-credit classes and cultural opportunities for older learners. Courses typically span a couple of hours.
Many of the classes will be in person at Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes, 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway in Marble Falls. Students can attend some online.
Others, such as Akiane: The Early Years, will take students off-campus.
Class fees range from $10-$15. An OLLI membership for $35 offers discounted rates. The courses are open to members and non-members. Register online.
