On August 13, 2023, Jackie Dale King, 79, of Granite Shoals, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord and join the angels in heaven. He was born on August 11, 1944, in Austin, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Alowery King and Grace Irene Dorsett King; siblings, Harrell King, Mildred King Ralston, Donald King, George King, Arlene King, and Richard King; and grandchild Austin Elderkin. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Darlene Herring King. 

Jack served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968. 

Jack married his wife, Shirley, in Seguin, Texas, on May 10, 1973. In 1976, they moved to Granite Shoals, Texas, where they started their business, King Portable Buildings, built their home, and raised their family. 

Jack was a man of unquestionable faith and devotion to God, wife Shirley, his children, and his family. He was a member of Christ Redeemer Fellowship, but he built a personal relationship with the Lord that also allowed him to worship in his own way.

He had a love for all animals, including his dogs, horses, and chickens. 

Jack had a passion for history and genealogy. He was a member of the Texas First Families, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Former Texas Rangers Association. 

He served on the City of Granite Shoals Parks Committee, and volunteered countless hours to improve the community parks for over 15 years. 

Jack left behind three daughters, Dana Michele King, Jaclyn Gale King Childress and husband Robert Lee Childress, and Jennifer Darlene King; grandchildren Krystal McKinney, Kenneth McKinney Jr., Terra Abbott, Jordan Childress and wife Deborah Childress, Blakely Childress, Amber Childress, Tanner Childress, Gabriella Allocca, and Julianna Brooks and husband Andrew Brooks; great-grandchildren, Makayla Prado, Nathan Alvarado, Makenzie Brown, Maddison Brown, Megan Brown, Luecasey Prier-Abbott, and LakeLynn Childress; a grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Lori King Holloway and husband Mike Holloway and their daughter Amy Holloway. 

A viewing will be held at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 in Marble Falls, Texas, on Sunday, August 20, from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home on Monday, August 21, at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Marble Falls Cemetery.

Officiating is pastor Jackie English; pallbearers are Okas King, Mike Holloway, Robert Childress, Jordan Childress, Blakely Childress, and Andrew Brooks.

A reception will follow at Christ Redeemer Fellowship, 2001 Phillips Ranch Road in Granite Shoals, Texas.
