The April 2022 issue of The Picayune Magazine features the Highland Lakes Flyers Club on the cover. Turn the pages for more information and the annual Home and Garden section.
Fly the friendly skies with the April edition of The Picayune Magazine and the Highland Lakes Flyers Club, which is featured on this month’s cover. The club meets almost daily (depending on weather) at a landing strip in Kingsland to hone their remote-controlled flying skills. They welcome visitors, which is why you need to read our story to get all of the details for what could become your next passionate pastime.
The issue also includes the annual Home and Garden section, where you will find stories on how to plant for native birds and how to grow a container garden. You’ll also learn:
8 easy fixes when selling your home
how to pick the perfect paint to suit your mood
how to keep indoor pests at bay the natural way
the importance of changing AC filters
where to chunk your junk when cleaning out the clutter
The ads in the Home and Garden section are just as full of information as the articles, so be sure to look them over as well.
Festivals are certainly back in full swing after two years of COVID-19 restrictions, and you can find out where the action is by reading our stories on the Bluebonnet Festival from April 8-10 and the Paint the Town and Sculpture on Main events from April 24-30. Also, check out the Events Short List on pages 42-43 for even more.
For some Paint the Town background, turn to page 32, where you can read all about Janey and Bill Rives, this month’s Picayune People and two of the founders of Highland Lakes Creative Arts.
Another interesting couple is profiled on page 34. Hannah and Daniel Kellogg are state park rangers who live in Meadowlakes. Find out what it means to “interpret” Sauer-Beckman Living History Farm at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site in Stonewall, where Hannah works, or Inks Lake State Park in Burnet, where Daniel works.
April is also National Volunteer Appreciation Month. Meet Marble Falls residents and volunteers Cecilia and Robert de la Garza and find out where you can volunteer your time to help your community.
On our Out and About page, you’ll see some of the happy faces who celebrated Black History Month at St. Frederick’s Baptist Church in Marble Falls and many of the folks who were in the crowd at the Bluebonnet Airshow in Burnet. Give our crossword puzzle a try and check out the classified ads to get the full April Picayune experience!
