Betty Laverne Sparks Bailey passed away July 6, 2021
Betty Laverne Sparks Bailey was born on May 5, 1937. She went home to Heaven on July 6, 2021.
Betty was born to Franklin Augustus Sparks and wife Margrette Isabel Taylor Sparks in Stephenville, Texas. She married Thomas “Tommy” Lindell Bailey on June 22, 1956, in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James Sparks and Charles Sparks; sister, Shirley Kirkland; and daughter Sharla Bailey Ebert.
Betty is survived by her son, Chuck Bailey and wife Becky of Llano; daughter Dianne Hoy and husband Billy of Llano; stepson, Alan Bailey and wife Christina of Llano; stepdaughters, Sleeta Ruth Ashwood and husband Scooter of West Columbia and Pamela Winkworth of Lake Jackson; brother-in-law, David Kirkland of Abilene; sister-in-law, Eula Rae Bailey of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In 1964, Betty moved with her husband, Tommy, and their family to Llano, where they established Tommy Bailey Pest Control in 1967. She retired from serving as the secretary and bookkeeper for the company in 2011 when their son, Chuck, daughter-in-law Becky purchased the company.
She was an amazing seamstress, sewing everything from baby blankets and clothes to wedding dresses for her children and grandchildren. Betty loved using her creativity for all types of crafts and enjoyed boating and fishing with her family.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church, a retired Lifer of the Gypsy Motorcycle Club, and a Girl Scout leader.
A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at First Baptist Church of Llano.
