Lupe Flores Castillo passed away on July 5, 2019. She was born February 11, 1936, in Hondo, Texas, to Angelita and Manuel Castillo.
Lupe worked as a migrant worker with her family as a young girl, where she met and married the love of her life, Candido Castillo, at age 16 and became a housewife and mother of 11.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Ramirez, Pete Castillo, Isidro Castillo, Ruben Castillo, Carmen Wilkes, and Joe Castillo; her loving sister Teresa Ibarra; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first love, Candido; five children, Benito, Juan Manuel, Paul, Juan, and Jane; her siblings; and her second husband, Gonzalo.
She was always so welcoming to anyone and everyone who stepped foot in her home. She loved to garden — roses were her favorite — and had the most beautiful plants in the neighborhood. She loved to cook and made the best tortillas. And Lupe loved to dance! She did not leave the house without wearing her lipstick or her heels.
Lupe loved to tell stories of her youth and her Cinderella love story with Grandpa. She was devoted to her faith and had a special devotion to our Lady the Virgin de Guadalupe. Lupe had a smile that could warm your heart and a love for her family like no other. You knew when you were in her presence that you were loved and always welcomed no matter what. To be around her was to be loved by her.
