Marianne Marshall Kuenstler, 84, of Burnet died Feb. 25, 2015
Marianne Marshall Kuenstler, 84, departed this life on Feb. 25, 2015, after a short stay at Seton Hospital in Williamson County.
She was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Fred Warren and Mary Catherine Cox Marshall. Marianne was a great-great-granddaughter of Samuel and Thurzy Alexander, who settled in Burnet County in the mid-1850s. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1949.
After high school, she attended Delmar College. While living in Corpus Christi, she worked as a graphic artist for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and the Corpus Christi Independent School District. Marianne later moved to Austin, where she worked as a graphic artist and supervisor for the Texas Education Agency until her retirement in 1989. Upon her retirement she moved to Burnet, to help care for her parents.
Marianne’s hobbies were arts and crafts and looking for treasures at Goodwill and flea markets. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at the family ranch at Oatmeal, Texas, where she spent many hours teaching her grandsons the finer arts of fishing, looking for fossils and digging for treasures in old forgotten junk piles. She also enjoyed her Friday night dinners, New Year’s Eve slumber parties and Halloween house haunting for the trick-or-treaters on North Pierce Street with her best friends, Wynoal, Ruth and Sarah.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents and son James Warren Kuenstler. She is survived by son Jason L. Kuenstler and wife Terri H. Kuenstler of Midland; brother, Fred E. Marshall and wife Linda of Rockport; and four grandchildren, Austin E. Kuenstler and Jason L. “Beau” Kuenstler II, both of Midland, Weston Lee Kuenstler of Norfolk, Virginia, and Jamie Lynn Stephens of Chandler, Arizona.
The family is especially grateful to special family friends and former caretakers, Lucille Foster and Donna York, for their support throughout the years.
A memorial service was Feb. 28 at the Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444, with minister Tim Denton officiating.
