Leona Fern Audino passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on July 10, 2026, in Meadowlakes, Texas, at the age of 97.

Leona was born in Superior, Iowa, to Opal and Daniel “Fount” Bradshaw. Her name, Leona, comes from the Greek word for “lioness” – a fitting name for a woman who was fiercely protective of those she loved, and who lived her life with strength, loyalty, and courage. One of 13 children, Leona was lovingly nicknamed “Snowball” by her father because of her beautiful snow-white hair.

On June 29, 1948 Leona married the love of her life, Joseph Audino, in Sioux City, Iowa. Together, they raised eight children and built a life grounded in faith, family, and service to others. Leona was a devoted wife and loving stay-at-home mother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a natural caregiver. From an early age and throughout her life, Leona found joy in helping others. Even into her 80s, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and cared for individuals with special needs. Her compassion, generosity, and service to others were hallmarks of her life.

Leona had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and had a particular passion for bowling, golf, and watching baseball. In her younger years, she loved roller skating. Above all Leona cherished time spent with loved ones. She is survived by her children: daughters Connie Audino, Carla Audino and wife Debbie Head, and Kim Audino; and sons John Audino, Michael Audino and wife Raquel, Mark Audino and wife Debbie, and Nick Audino and wife Peggy. Leona leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her heart and a smile to her face.

Leona was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph; her son Joseph Jr.; her parents and all twelve of her siblings. A private celebration of Leona’s life was held on July 19, 2026. She will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City on August 29, 2026.

Leona leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, strength, compassion, and service. She devoted her life to caring for others, and the love she gave so freely will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
