OBITUARY: Delphine Duke, 95, of Burnet dies March 12, 2014

Delphine Duke of Burnet, Texas, passed away March 12, 2014, at the age of 95. She was born in Eastland County on Jan. 4, 1919, to Charles and Nora Carroll.
She graduated from Rising Star High in May 1937. She married the love of her life, Bobby Duke, on Oct. 8, 1941. They moved to Burnet in 1951.
Delphine was a member of First Baptist Church of Burnet for 50 years, volunteered as secretary and served on several committees for many years. She began working at the Burnet County Courthouse in 1970, being elected district clerk in 1971 and serving until 1974.
She was an avid homemaker, loved playing canasta and bridge and was an amazing cook! She was also enthusiastically involved in many volunteer organizations, including serving as president of The Women’s Auxiliary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bobby; sister, Treva DeLoach; and brother, Bud Carroll. She also was preceded by her son, Danny Duke.
Delphine is survived by her daughters-in-law, Janie Duke and Sherry Brummett, both of Burnet; and granddaughter, DeDe Lynn Remington, her husband, Randy, and great-grandsons, Blake and Weston Pickens, all of Horseshoe Bay.
A memorial service is 1 p.m. March 20 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
