BURNET — The Burnet High School tennis team competed in matches against Faith Academy of Marble Falls on Feb. 27 and at the Austin Akins Tournament on Feb. 28.
At Akins, the Bulldogs finished in the top three of the mixed-doubles division, which drew 12 teams. The Burnet doubles team of Price Carpenter and Hailey Wilson came in first place thanks to beating teammates Micayla Light and Cable Anders in the finals. Burnet’s third doubles team of Luke Webb and Brooke Hemphill captured third place.
Carpenter and Wilson only dropped one game in their matches.
The boys doubles team of Brian Bullock and Caleb Cardoza won third place by winning some hard-fought matches, head coach Tammy Hullum said.

Marble Falls at Pflugerville Connally Invitational
PFLUGERVILLE — The Marble Falls High School tennis team competed at the Pflugerville Connally Invitational on Feb. 28.
Afton Otwell won the B girls singles division, while Michael Holder finished second in boys singles.
The girls doubles team of Madison Dyer and Hannah Dockery won its division.
Thirteen schools participated in the tournament.
Marble Falls will compete in the Fredericksburg Tournament on March 20-22 at Fredericksburg High School, 1107 Texas 16 South in Fredericksburg.
