Claudia Nolte Nelson, 89, of Marble Falls passed away Dec. 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 13, 1924, to Frank and Eunice Nolte of Thrall, Texas.
After graduating from Thrall High School, Claudia went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Hood. She later moved to Austin, where she began a 35-year career with the IRS.
On Dec. 22, 1946, she married Walter Nelson. They raised their family in Austin, where they were longtime members of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Claudia and Walter, affectionately called “Sis” and “Dutch,” were known for their devotion to family.
In 2005, they relocated to the Burnet/Marble Falls area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Frank and Dean Nolte; and sister and brother-in-law Rosemary and Francis Hoffpauir.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter Nelson of Marble Falls; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Troy Ellett of Burnet; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Elaine Nelson of Humble; daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann and Vance Pennington of Burnet; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Nolte of Wenatchee, Wash.; sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and Joe Parker of Round Rock; brother and sister-in-law Carl and Gwen Nolte of Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was Dec. 30 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. Burial followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Granite Mesa in Marble Falls and Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet for their tremendous outpouring of love and care for her in these last two years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Burnet.

Moral Rights and Publicity You waive any moral rights or rights of attribution in the Submitted Content to the extent permitted by law. Company may use your name, username, or likeness in connection with the Submitted Content if applicable.
Termination and Removal Company may, in its sole discretion, edit, refuse to post, or remove any Submitted Content at any time without notice. This Agreement survives any termination.
Governing Law This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Burnet County, Texas.
Entire Agreement This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements. Modifications must be in writing. By submitting content, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
