Faith Academy girls basketball team overcomes ‘sloppy’ play for tourney win
FROM STAFF REPORTS
BULVERDE — The Faith Academy girls basketball team defeated Schertz John Paul II 47-36 in the first game of the Bulverde Bracken Tournament on Nov. 14.
Lady Flames head coach Jerry English called the game “sloppy.”
“We had a lot of turnovers and easy missed shots,” he said. “Our rebounding was dismal in the first half but much better in the second. We had balanced scoring from every position, but just not enough points scored.”
English credited junior guard Taylor Denton and senior posts Kristen Cherry and JoAnna Piatek for “playing good help defense and controlling John Paul’s three best scorers.”
