Before its scheduled March 17 implosion, long-time Marble Falls residents reflected on the 77-year history of the U.S. 281 bridge.

The structure was built in 1936 and being replaced by two new spans that each will serve one direction of traffic.

Since the old U.S. 281 bridge’s closing Feb. 12, demolition crews have worked to remove everything from it except the steel truss, or frame, and the piers in the lake holding it up.
