BURNET — The Burnet High School girls basketball team has its first winning streak of the season with a 40-37 win against Thorndale, ranked No. 25 in the Class 1A Division I poll of the Texas Associaton of Basketball Coaches.
Burnet sophomore point guard Riley Scott scored four free throws in the final minute to turn a one-point deficit into a three-point lead for the Lady Dawgs.
Head coach Mike Cavender said the Lady Dawgs recorded 13 turnovers, a season low, which improved the other statistics.

QUOTABLE: "They had a lot of size around the basket, and we did a nice job of rebounding on defense, and so did they defensively, which means there weren’t very many second shots to be had on offense," Burnet head coach Mike Cavender said.
RECORDS: Burnet is 6-6; Thorndale is 8-7.
