HORSESHOE BAY — The Marble Falls High School boys golf team shot a 343 on the first day of the Fall Classic tournament at Hidden Falls Country Club in Meadowlakes and 475 the second day at Apple Rock golf course of Horseshoe Bay Resort to finish seventh in the Class 4A division.

"On the first day, I felt we could shoot our lowest round of the season, but we did not finish well," head coach Lonnie Tackitt said. "On the second day, Jack (Scott) played some solid golf and led the team with his 83 and moved him way up to the leader board to tie for 17th. Everyone else struggled on the more difficult course and the windy conditions. Those were specific problems from our last tournament, and it was frustrating to see we had not corrected them."

RESULTS: T-17 Jack Scott, 84-82–166; T-30 Joe Portillo, 81-95-176; T-37 Micah Wooten, 87-98–185; 39 Ben Mezger, 93-93–186; 43 Taylor Tackitt, 91-107–198; 45 Chris Gregg (medalist), 98-112–210; T-48, Dawson Taylor (medalist), 90-withdrew; T-48, Christian Hunick (medalist), 103-withdrew.

QUOTABLE: "Joe (Portillo) and Jack (Scott) had good rounds going but let some shots get away on their last few holes. Ben (Mezger) and Taylor (Tackitt) held it together on their last holes to maintain where they were to par and help the team," Lonnie Tackitt said.
