Lady Dawgs basketball camp shows off future talent
BURNET — As he surveyed the number of players bouncing basketballs while trying to knock away their partner’s ball, Burnet High School girls basketball coach Mike Cavender smiled.
He saw the joy on the faces of the athletes who attended the Lady Dawgs basketball camp June 4-6, heard laughter as he saw some of his counselors, former players who returned to help during the camp, chase the younger girls in a game of tag, and the players’ determination to keep trying to make baskets, even if their hands were a little too small and they didn’t quite have the strength to shoot the ball high enough.
