MARBLE FALLS — A girls basketball tournament is June 9 featuring teams from across the Hill Country.

The tournament is 8 a.m. at Marble Falls High School, 2101 Mustang Drive, with the aim of playing the final game by 5 p.m.

The Marble Falls Stampede has a team of fifth- and sixth-graders and seventh- and eighth-graders. The younger Stampede will face opponents from Hays, Taylor, Georgetown and the Austin Lady Magic. The other Stampede squad will play teams from McGregor, Kerrville, Hutto, Liberty Hill and Fredericksburg.

The tournament also will feature a high school division consisting of opponents from Marble Falls, Fredericksburg, Liberty Hill, Killeen and Salado.

Tournament director Carrie Grona said most of these players are underclassmen.

Players have expressed in interest in playing, she said, adding that’s why Marble Falls Independent School District has provided the gyms.

The Stampede team of third- and fourth-graders will play in a tournament in San Antonio.
