Marble Falls Rotary Golf Tournament raises record $47,000 for local charities

HORSESHOE BAY — The 29th annual Marble Falls Rotary Golf Tournament set a new record by raising more than $47,000 for local charities in the Highland Lakes, according to organizers.

“Our membership pulled together to help meet our goals," Marble Falls Rotary President Rick Stacy said. "We thank all the community members and businesses who contributed and especially the Horseshoe Bay Resort for their continued support over the past 29 years.”

The April 28 event drew 128 golfers to Horseshoe Bay Resort’s Slick Rock course.

The team of Glenn Salem, Doug Jackson, Mo Bajaj and Andy Hoffmans received first-place honors with a low gross of 55.

Second place with a low gross of 59 was the team of Greg Ritchie, John Wagner, Jason Garcia and Seth Shelburn.

First-place winners in low net was the team of Jearl Thorpe, Bob Clifton, Bill Smyrl and Greg Smyrl with a score of 48.

Second-place low net with a score of 51 was the team of Brian Grubbs, Rob O’Connor, Matt Underwood and Jim Boyle.

Special awards for the man and woman hitting the longest drive went to Michael Becker and Laura Scott. Scott also won the women’s closest to the pin contest and Anthony Thelen captured the men’s closest to the pin.
