HORSESHOE BAY — The Lady Flames left little doubt they are the team to beat in District 3-2A in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. They won both the singles and doubles divisions and will enter the district tournament as the No. 1 seeds.
In addition, the boys are keeping a tradition of their own going as the Flames will be seeded No. 1 in boys singles.
RESULTS: Boys singles — Reagan Vaughn won four matches for the No. 1 seed. Chase Mueller is seeded No. 11. Boys doubles — Alec Gonzales and Luke Hering lost in the championship to be seeded No. 2 after playing four matches, while Sean Lavoie and Brian Freeman are seeded No. 7. Girls singles —Sarah Thomas and Savannah Still faced each other in the championship with Thomas winning. She’ll be seeded No. 1 with Still seeded No. 2. Both played three matches. Girls doubles — Nicole Johnson and Ashley Stallard captured the top seed after winning three matches. Rebekah Graham and Ariel Blaylock are seeded No. 3.
QUOTABLE: “We’re proud of our tennis program because of the success they’ve had in the past. We have the potential to win another state title in that sport. Right now they’re playing well. We hope to continue that,” Faith athletic director John Berkman said.
RECORDS: Head coach Michelle Stallard is seeking a sixth straight TAPPS championship.
