Mustangs finish last at Battle of the Lake
LAKEWAY — Marble Falls participated in the Battle at the Lake hosted by Lake Travis and Westlake recently.
The event took the top five scores for a combined team total as opposed to the top four scores. Marble Falls scored a 480-480–960. The tournament had 108 golfers from 16 schools.
"When they go to a tournament, they don’t feel the same way they do here," Mustangs head coach Lonnie Tackitt said. "You have to adapt to the changes. That’s the stuff you have to learn to handle."
RESULTS: Jack Scott 90-85–175, Chad Chesnut 91-90–181, Dawson Taylor 92-92–184, Collin Smith 103-106–209, Ben Mezger 104-113–217, Joe Portillo 112-107–219.
QUOTABLE: "I knew the scoring would hurt us because we’re struggling to find a fourth scorer, let along a fifth," Mustangs head coach Lonnie Tackitt said.
