Kerrville OLH gets second-chance opportunities in game against Faith Academy of Marble Falls

KERRVILLE — The Faith Academy boys basketball team lost 37-31 to Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills Jan. 12.

The Flames (5-10, 1-3) had a two-point lead at the half thanks to a 3-pointer by junior guard Brian Freeman at the horn.

And though Faith played fairly well in the first half, OLH forced them to make mistakes and capitalized.

"We didn’t handle the ball well," head coach John Berkman said. "That’s a bad combination. That hurt us down the stretch."

Meanwhile, OLH didn’t have those issues.

"We allowed OLH to get second-chance opportunities," Berkman said. "They capitalized. We got easy shots, but we didn’t capitalize on them. It hurt us."

Sophomore forward Reagan Vaughn led with 11 points followed by junior guard Lucas Wright with eight, junior post Jason Byrd with six, Freeman with three and senior post Casey Clendennen with two.

Faith will travel to face Temple Holy Trinity, 418 N. 11th St. in Temple, 7 p.m. Jan. 17.

After playing two games in three days, the Flames will enjoy a three-day weekend.

"We need the rest," the coach said. "Our guys played hard. They need a break. It’ll be good to get a break."
