Lady Flames continue winning streak on road, vanquish Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills

KERRVILLE — The one team that had the best chance to snap the Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball squad’s 59-game district winning streak was Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills.

Instead, Faith extended their streak of victories Jan. 12 to 60 thanks to prevailing 51-33.

In addition, the Lady Flames (21-4, 4-0) won their ninth straight game, but it marked their third consecutive road win with one more away contest to go before returning to the friendly confines of The Fire Pit in Marble Falls.

"We played pretty well," head coach Jerry English said. "This is a very, very hard place to play."

He was pleased his athletes set the tone early by having a high-quality first half where the Lady Flames controlled just about all aspects of the contest.

They led by about 15 points at intermission.

"We just darn near put on a clinic," the coach said. "It was a very quality win."

Senior forward Beth Ann Berkman contributed in scoring. She is known for her ability to make solid passes to senior post Brooke Field and junior guard Bailey Brinkley, and Berkman scored some baskets, the coach said.

"It was Beth Ann’s best offensive night," he said. "She made four or five shots in the first half. She was looking for her shot."

This marked the second game in three days for Faith.

"This was a hard week," English said. "We have pretty much stamped it."

The Lady Flames will travel to face Temple Holy Trinity, 418 N. 11th St. in Temple, at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17.
