WIMBERLEY — The Burnet High School girls basketball team posted a 3-3 overall record at the Christmas Hoop Fest Tournament on New Year’s weekend.

The Lady Dawgs (11-9) finished fourth in the event, defeating Hondo 59-39, Rosehill Academy 49-47 and El Paso Canutillo 46-38 but losing to Round Rock Cedar Ridge 46-28 and Lake Travis 45-35 and 60-44.

After losing to Lake Travis to start the tournament, Burnet was able to play its way back into the winners bracket where it lost to Cedar Ridge and Lake Travis a second time.

"The kids played hard and gained some valuable experience against all six quality opponents," Burnet head coach Mike Cavender said.

Senior guards Leah Cotton and Kati Maldonado were named to the all-tournament team.

Burnet hosts Brownwood at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at The Doghouse, 1000 The Green Mile, before starting District 25-3A play at Liberty Hill on Jan. 6.
