Lady Flames win fourth straight Johnson City tourney

JOHNSON CITY — With poor shooting and foul trouble, the odds weren’t in favor of the Faith Academy girls basketball team.

But the Lady Flames (11-3) found a way to beat San Antonio Lutheran (10-3) 48-45 in the Johnson City Championship Dec. 3.

It is the fourth straight year Faith has won the event.

"I was very, very, very excited," Faith head coach Jerry English said. "It was as hard fought a game as I have ever seen. Once in a great while, you don’t seem to get any breaks."

Faith was down 16-11 at the end of the first quarter and 26-23 at the half.

"I haven’t seen a team shoot the ball like that in a really long time," English said. "Our defense was good. Our hands were up."
