ROCHELLE — The Faith Academy boys team is learning that hustle helps.

After losing to Veritas Academy 31-30 Tuesday, the Flames (1-3) suffered a 38-34 loss to May in the opener of the Rochelle Tournament Thursday only to defeat the host team 24-22 in the nightcap.

“Our hustle is going to do a lot of things for us,” head coach John Berkman said. “Our quickness and our size are advantages for us. When you keep a game close you give yourself a chance. Having the experience of playing in close games and get what you want is huge.”

The victory against Rochelle came down to one factor, he said.

“We just played hard,” he said. “We won more on hustle than anything else.”

The Flames started the game on an 8-0 run, but the contest was tied at 15-15 at the half.
