Highland Lakes teams have the talent for solid seasons
MARBLE FALLS — A return to form. That’s the approach for the area’s boys basketball teams.
Marble Falls was the only squad to qualify for the playoffs last season, but Burnet was there two years ago. Meanwhile, Faith is aiming for a break-through season and a postseason spot for the first time in its history.
It will take plenty of effort, dedication and preparation, traits these squads already have. That will be helpful, especially since boys basketball in the Austin area has exploded during the last several years.
Marble Falls Mustangs
Class 4A bi-district champions last season
MARBLE FALLS — As he reflected on his team, head coach Bruce Etheridge said it reminds him of the 2008-2009 squad — lots of raw talent with very little experience.
Players from that team led the 2010-2011 Mustangs to the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-2005 season. The 2011 class spent a lot of its summers playing in different leagues across the area to prepare for the season. It just took time to develop.
"This team has the same type of build," Etheridge said. "I feel like being in our system should help us."
