MARBLE FALLS — The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade football teams recently split games against Marble Falls.

The white team won 16-0, while the green team lost 13-6.

The white team’s contest against the Marble Falls A team was shortened to three quarters to meet the time restrictions for a game on a school night.

Burnet took the opening kickoff and drove to the Ponies’ 15-yard line, but the drive ended with an interception. Marble Falls took possession and ran in an apparent touchdown of 70 yards but was penalized for defensive holding and never threatened to score the rest of the night.

Burnet’s Tristan Briggs recovered a fumble at the 40-yard line, and the white team used a pass from Austin Moore to Chris Cromer to cover the 40 yards in one play with blocking from Joel Johnson, Brock Foster, Michael Foster and Sawyer Fisher on a screen play. Moore’s extra point was good with Gabe Foster holding.

With Keedrick Hill and Tyler Robles knocking down two passes in a row, the Bullpups set up to drive for another score near the end of the first quarter.
