Burnet 7th-grade teams split with Marble Falls
MARBLE FALLS — The Burnet Middle School seventh-grade football teams split games against Marble Falls last week.
The white team earned a big 12-6 win, while the green team lost 12-0.
“The boys came out and played hard from the beginning and continued that to the end of the fourth quarter,” coach Tim Hulon said of the white team.
The Bullpups got the ball first and drove to the 5-yard line before they fumbled.
Marble Falls scored at the end of the first quarter to take the lead.
Burnet answered by tying the game at 6-6 going into halftime.
It was a scoreless battle until the end of the fourth quarter. Burnet’s Drew Kiser scored with 10 seconds left in the game for a 12-6 lead.
“We played hard all game and battled for four quarters,” Hulon said. “We were led by Drew Kiser and Caelin Graves on both sides of the ball.”
Kiser had a big interception that allowed the late score, while Caelin had a lot of big tackles throughout the game, Hulon said.
“We came out fired up and did some things really well,” coach Glen Hafley said of the green team. “In the end, we came up a little short. Coach Hulon and I are very proud of the effort the kids put out.”
Burnet will play at Gatesville at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 22.
