Ponies lose seventh-grade opener to Bullpups

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls Middle School seventh-grade A football team lost to Burnet 12-6 on Sept. 15 in its season opener.

With the score tied 6-6 late in the fourth quarter, the Ponies turned over the ball with a short field for the Bullpups. And Burnet scored with 10 seconds on the clock for the win.

Scoring for the Ponies was running back Davin Manning on an 85-yard touchdown run.

Outstanding offensive players were linemen Roman Ruiz, Jonathan Bryer and Michael Hall; quarterbacks Heath Dooley and Cade Cool; wingback Sam Harkins and running backs Bo McCasland and Weston Schultz.

Outstanding defensive players were ends Hall and Jon Wilson; nose tackle Ryan Dewey; linebackers Manning, Cool, Preston Richardson and Eli Duffer; and defensive backs James Garrison and Skiler Sallas.

The Ponies squads will play at 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Lampasas on Sept. 22.
