BURNET — Three Lady Dawg basketball players were named to the Class 3A academic all-state team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches recently.
Seniors Brooke Rockafellow, Kerstyn Towslee and McKinsey Cozart received the recognition.
“This is a very prestigious list,” said head coach Mike Cavender.
Players selected had to be named to the all-district team, be a senior and have maintained an average of 90 or higher over seven semesters.
“It is very difficult to be selected for this award since you must not only maintain a high standard in the classroom for four years in high school, but you must also be recognized for your achievements on the court,” Cavender said. “Congratulations are in order for this special achievement for all these young ladies.”
This was Rockafellow’s second time to be selected for academics.
Last month, she was selected by the Texas Girls Coaches Association for its Class 3A Basketball Academic All-State team for maintaining a 94 or above seven-semester average, along with sophomore Stormie Wilfong.
