Burnet Middle School golfers perform well at first tourney
LAMPASAS — The Burnet Middle School boys and girls golf teams headed to Lampasas for an out-of-district tournament earlier.
Both teams did all right for the first tournament of the year, but the experience showed players what was needed to compete, coaches said.
Rasha Rainey, previously a team manager, took to the field after other players were unable to make the tournament, coaches said.
Coaches applauded Rainey’s play and teamwork.
Taylor Denton led the Lady Pups with a 53, and Jodi Hill scored a 70.
Holden Hernandez shot the best score with a 42. Tanner Rex added a 47, while Travis Massingil and Zach McClesky each scored a 53, and Derrick Kiser fired a 55.
