Nanette Naumann Gray, of Buchanan Dam, died April 15, 2010. She was born in Harlingen Feb. 7,1941, to Ernest Herman and Rose Ellen (Posy) Naumann.

She graduated from Harlingen High School and attended Pan American University as an Art major. Nanette left Pan Am to marry Gary Gray and move to California in 1962.In 1977 Nanette and her family returned to the Rio Grande Valley and lived in Arroyo City. Nanette treasured her waterfront life in Arroyo City but in 1987 she and her family returned to Camarillo, Calif., and in 1989 settled into life in Ridgecrest Calif.

She enjoyed the California high desert and enjoyed rock hounding, camping, fishing and the scenery in the High Sierras.

She returned in 1997 to live in her native Texas to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters.

She enjoyed the arts, thread and needle art, dance and music. Nanette sewed clothing for herself and for her daughter and granddaughters. She became a devoted quilt maker and machine embroiderer while she was a member of the Cactus Needles and High Desert Quilt Guild in Ridgecrest. She is survived by her husband, Gary, her daughter Samantha Gray Nolan and her husband Robert of Austin, and their daughters Ashley and Lauren, her son Gary Dennis of Buchanan Dam, her sister Tina Morrison and her husband Larry of Fort Worth and their children Judy and Mathew.A family memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
