HORSESHOE BAY – With a hint of spring in the air last week, 14 members and their guests gathered at the Slick Rock Golf Course to jump start a busy tournament season, officials said.

The father-son team of Wayne and Kris Townsend won the Horseshoe Bay Resort Half-Day Member-Guest Tournament.

Two teams tied for second: Tim Brown and guest Jim Watkins and the team of Jerry Cloud and Bob Goetz.

Teams competed on a quota point system based on the players’ handicaps. The Townsends posted a team score of -3, edging the second place teams by one point. Two other teams finished one point behind the second-place finishers.

Next week, Slick Rock hosts the Southern Texas PGA Senior Associates Tour. The 36-hole event is open to professionals and amateurs.

March 18 is the Spring Classic Pro Am, featuring teams of four amateurs and one professional.
