A Burnet County District Attorney investigation continues against David L. Meyer, 45 of Rockford, Illinois, for allegedly shooting at a Cottonwood Shores family on Nov. 30 after his car and the family’s car collided on RR 1431 near Smithwick. A Burnet County grand jury on Feb. 6 deemed an off-duty Austin police officer’s shooting of the suspect as ‘justified’ and declined to pursue further charges against the officer.

Burnet County road rage case suspect arrested on assault with deadly weapon charges

FROM STAFF REPORTS BURNET — An Illinois man will face five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with an alleged November road rage incident on RR 1431, during which the suspect reportedly threatened a family and  exchanged gunfire with an off-duty Austin police officer, officials said. BCSO: Gunman’s medical status stalls RR 1431 road rage case
