LaNell S. Witcher, 80, of Burnet died Aug. 30, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1931, to George W. and Margaret Thompson Studer Sr.
She grew up in Creedmoore, attending school there until the family moved to Austin. She attended and graduated from Austin High School. She then continued her education at the University of Texas. While attending UT, she met and married Martin Edward “Eddie” Witcher, who was serving in the armed forces during the Korean War.
When he returned, they moved to Harlingen. While living in Harlingen she was active in the Girl Scouts with her daughters and in Christian endeavors. She volunteered at the school library. She also participated in the hand-bell choir and served as a deaconess at the First Christian Church.
The couple moved to Burnet in 2004, where she played her favorite role as Nana to her two grandchildren.
She attended Vanderveer Street Church of Christ for many years and especially enjoyed attending the Wednesday morning women’s Bible class.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include daughter Beth Wynn and husband Mick; grandchildren Cody, Ty and Mattie LaNell Wynn; and brother George W. Studer Jr. and wife Thelma.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005 and daughter Debra Sue Witcher in 2006.
A wish shared by the couple was to have their ashes sprinkled together on the bluebonnets of the Hill Country.
A memorial service is 6 p.m. Sept. 6 at Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet with Tim Denton officiating.
