Lewis Najar, 78, of Llano died Aug. 31, 2012. He was born on Feb. 28, 1934, in Gillespie County to Manuel Najar and Dora (Castillo) Najar.
He served in the Army during the Korean conflict and in his early years worked in the granite industry in Fairland.
He married Barbara Chatham on Jan. 5, 1986, in Grand Prairie.
He later went to work for the city of Llano and retired as sanitation supervisor. He was a devoted member of Bible Baptist Church in Llano, where he served as trustee and had the bus ministry for many years. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and landscaping. He was a talented drummer and loved playing music.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son David Clarno and wife Olga of Llano; daughters Colette Lockhart and husband Donnie of Haslet and Maria Najar of Chicago; stepson Bobby Smith of Kingsland; stepdaughters Fina Pike of Fairland, Julie Smith and Glenna Westmorland, both of Paris, Texas, and Mary Hackworth of Dallas; sisters Louise Christian of Kingsland and Selma Lee Wooten of Cedar Lake, Ind.; brother Larry Najar of Llano; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Zona Carlin; three sisters; and two brothers.
A funeral service is 10 a.m. Sept. 4 a the Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Strawn and Brother Red Watson officiating. A military graveside service will be provided by the Highland Lakes Honor Guard at Llano City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Baptist Church or Scott & White Hospice in Llano.
