MARBLE FALLS — The statement games continue.

Marble Falls started its first winning streak of the season, rolling to a 77-28 victory against Manor in its own American Bank of Texas Tournament opener Nov. 15.

Marble Falls turned a 4-4 tie into a 17-2 run to end the first quarter for a 21-6 advantage. The home team used its speed to push the pace thanks to a full-court defense that forced Manor into numerous turnovers resulting in quick baskets.

Before the end of the opening period, Manor moved three ball handlers closer to the baseline thrower after every Marble Falls bucket in the hopes of fending off Marble Falls’ defense. It didn’t work.

Meanwhile, Manor could only muster eight points in the first half.

Marble Falls head coach Chris Jost said he was equally proud of the effort on both ends of the floor.

"Our defense was able to create our offense," he said.

The one statistic Marble Falls will be working to improve are turnovers, he said. By the end of the game, Lady Mustangs had 25 turnovers.

"We turned the ball over too much," he said. "Forced passes is what we’ll be working on."
