MARBLE FALLS — Bill Poe is set to be the second hire for Marble Falls High School athletic director and head football coach Todd Dodge.
Poe would be the offensive coordinator for the Mustangs football team. He spent the past two years as the athletic director and head football coach at Longview Spring Hill.
Poe is the frontrunner for the job, said Rob O’Connor, Marble Falls Independent School District superintendent.
“We’re glad if Bill Poe is willing to and that’s Todd Dodge’s recommendation, we’re ready to embrace it,” he said March 8.
Dodge is expected to make his staffing recommendations March 26 during the School Board meeting, which could also include hiring Keith Hendrix as the new defensive coordinator.
Hendrix served as the Hillsboro athletic director and head football coach.
Both hires must be approved by the board.
Before taking over at Spring Hill, Poe was the offensive coordinator at Southlake Carroll from 2007-2009 — the same high school Dodge led to four 5A state titles when he was a head football coach from 2000-2007.
Poe played for his father, Ron Poe, at McKinney High School when Dodge was a member of the elder Poe’s staff.
Bill Poe played college football at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
According to The Longview News-Journal, Poe met with his players and coaches March 8 to tell them of his intention to join the Marble Falls staff. The newspaper said he planned to give his resignation by the end of the business day.
If the MFISD board approves hiring him, Poe will probably start work in April, O’Connor said.
“Those are the two coaches pending board approval,” he said. “I think they’re both outstanding coaches, and we’re blessed to have them in our district.”

No Compensation You understand and agree that you will receive no compensation for the submission or use of your Submitted Content.
Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Company, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your breach of this Agreement or any third-party claims related to your Submitted Content.
Moral Rights and Publicity You waive any moral rights or rights of attribution in the Submitted Content to the extent permitted by law. Company may use your name, username, or likeness in connection with the Submitted Content if applicable.
Termination and Removal Company may, in its sole discretion, edit, refuse to post, or remove any Submitted Content at any time without notice. This Agreement survives any termination.
Governing Law This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Burnet County, Texas.
Entire Agreement This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements. Modifications must be in writing. By submitting content, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
